Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine

There are several treatment modalities that fall under the scope of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

They are as follows: acupuncture, musculoskeletal acupuncture, herbology, moxibustion, cupping, Tui Na (Chinese massage).

What is Acupuncture?
Thin disposable pre-sterilized needles are gently inserted into specific acupoints and meridians to assist in the recovery of disease processes.

What Is Musculoskeletal Acupuncture?
Acupuncture pain management based on motor point, trigger point, and myofascial release. It is very effective for both acute and chronic recurrent pain

What is Moxibustion?
A method by which moxa wool, a form of chrysanthemum, is burned on or above the skin at acupuncture points. The heat warms the meridians, improves circulation (Qi and blood), relaxes the musculature, and improves overall health.

What is Cupping?
A process in which a jar is attached to the skin surface to cause local congestion through negative pressure. The vacuum causes the skin and local blood supply to be drawn up into the cup. It is useful over the larger muscle groups of the body, especially the back, shoulders, buttocks, and legs. It helps to disperse accumulations of blood (incl. Bruises) and qi (incl. spasms).

What is Acupressure?
A technique using finger pressure on meridian points to create a balance between the physical, emotional, and spiritual levels.

What is Herbal Medicine?
After diagnosing a patient’s disharmony and forming a treatment plan an individual formula is prescribed taking into consideration the following: the patient’s constitution, digestive state, emotional and physical states.

What is Tui Na massage?
This form of Chinese massage corrects the balance between Yin and Yang by focusing on points, trigger points, and meridians rather than groups of muscle.  It is very safe, effective, and relaxing.

What is Gua Sha?
A healing technique that involves palpation and cutaneous stimulation where the skin is pressured, in strokes, by a round-edged instrument. Gua Sha helps blood stagnation and scar tissue and promotes normal circulation and metabolic processes. You may experience immediate relief from pain, stiffness, fever, chill, cough, or nausea.

What is Lifestyle Support:
Important suggestions made to help you adapt your current nutrition, exercise, flexibility, and support programs to promote well-being.
